Should schools ban junk food, wk5 t3

This week in writing we are learning about persuasive writing and our challenge is to write a persuasive piece of writing about if schools should ban junk food so here it is.

Why schools should ban junk food

Hello my name is Oscar and you might be thinking what is so bad about junk food? Junk food is high in fat and sugar. While it is delicious and convenient it is not good for you and you should only have small amounts.

What is the problem with junk food at school? Studies have shown that your body is working really hard to process the junk food because it's full of fat which reduces the oxygen level going to your brain. This means that students will have a harder time working as they will find it difficult to concentrate. Also Junk food makes it harder to work and listen.

At the moment if you bring junk food from home like candy and lollipops they will be confiscated but stuff like cake and cookies are fine but I think we should ban all junk food in school so we can concentrate with our work and give it our best. What are you having for lunch today?

My birthday is in September and guess how many people had the same month as me, 3 more people! I was so confused I thought there were more.

I used 2 cool bar graphs that are really unique. I will show them to you here is my graph.

Have you made a graph before

My wonderful whanau

This week in Te Reo we are going to make a screencastify about my whanau and why it is important to talk about your family in your mihi pepeha. in the screencastify I talked about my tukana (big brother) my matua (dad) and my whaea (mum) this is my screencastify.

In Maori culture it is important to mention your family in your mihi pepeha that was our teachers question and in my screencastify I answered the question , this is what I said. It is important to mention your family because it tells people about you and they could become friends.

What is your answer too the question

Matariki madness

This week in reading we need to make connections with books about matariki my books were called matariki which is about matariki in general talking about the traditions and the second one is called Daniels matariki feast and this one is about Daniel learning about the matariki feast at his school. We needed to write connections that we have with these two storys and these are mine.
my connections in the first text were to look at the stars to celebrate with family and friends like christmas to help with the gardening and when dad taught me and my brother how to carve. For text 2 my connections were being kind of scared going to school when I was younger, hearing about the matariki feast at school and growing certain plants in winter.

Do you celebrate matariki?

RE

this week for RE we need to make a video that tells people how to do the sign of the cross in English and Maori so I think you know it in English but in Maori it is ki te ingoa o te matua o te temaiti o te wairua tapu amene I may have spelled some of the words wrong but that is it. Here is a video representation and answering questions.

the questions were who are the three people in god,how can we praise God the father the son and the holy spirit for all that we have been given and God calls us his sons and daughters. As the children of God, how do we show the Spirit of God is working in us?

Did you already know the sign of the cross in Maori?

Pick a Path

This week all of us in the hub need to do a pick a path about multiplication if you dont know how to do a pick a path here is a short tutorial. So first you can make 3 slides the question, the right and the wrong then you write two answers on the question and link them to either right or wrong and rinse and repeat for as long as you want. Here is my pick a path.

I really like this pick a path and I did something different with the last two slides.

Did you get all of the questions right?

Anzac adventure

This week we have a literacy board that we need to complete. This weeks was about ANZAC Day. We learnt how to make ANZAC biscuits, watched some clips but the thing that I am going to talk about today is my ANZAC poppy comic. It is a visual comic of Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae's in the Flanders Fields. It is the poem but with pictures. It takes place in world war one just like the poem.

Other people did theirs on the other thing we could have made a comic about it was called harry's war but I did one about poppys

What story would you pick Harry's War or in the Flanders Fields?

RE vine

This week we have been doing a vine with good deeds on it, we created a google drawing and made  a vine with grapes. They have good deeds on them. My good deeds were giving time to my family, going to church, praying for people who are having a bad day, being kind to everyone, treat others the way you want to be treated and read the bible. I actually drew the vine and then just put green boxes in it and the grapes are just purple circles. I really like it.

What good deeds would you put in your own vine?
